Categories chosen from evidence
We note which categories the top three listings use for your main Richmond searches, then choose a primary and secondary set that honestly describe what you do.
Among the Google.ca suggestions for Richmond sit “richmond bc 24 hour dim sum”, “richmond bc restaurants open late” and “walk in clinics richmond bc open now”. Each is answered first by the map, as a handful of pins showing hours, rating and distance. Someone hunting for food at eleven at night, or a clinic before work, usually chooses from that panel without opening a single website.
That makes the details on your profile the deciding factor. Hours must be right for every day of the week and every holiday. The pin must sit on your actual door, which is harder than it sounds when you are one unit among dozens in a mall or strip plaza. And the photos should help a stranger find you, because many people searching have just stepped off the Canada Line or out of YVR and have never seen your block.
A profile is also never entirely in your hands. Members of the public can suggest edits, Google can merge listings it takes for duplicates, and suspensions arrive without warning. A listing that is set up carefully and then checked every month is far less likely to vanish during your busiest week.
Search demand
Google.ca suggestions from October 2026, plus one general search owners make. Every modifier points to a detail the profile needs to have right already.
Look at how many of those searches end in open now, 24 hour or open saturday, or name a centre such as Ironwood or Aberdeen. A profile showing last month’s hours, or a pin dropped in the middle of a parking lot, misses them whatever its star rating. We correct hours, holiday closures and pin placement first, and only then turn to the factors that move position.
Start with these
Roughly in the order we check them.
In a large centre or a plaza with several buildings, Google may stack every tenant on one spot, or at the wrong entrance. Customers then walk the length of the lot looking for you. Dragging the pin to your own doorway and adding the unit number to the address line fixes most of it.
A restaurant serving until 2 a.m. that lists midnight loses every late search after twelve. A clinic opening early but showing a later time loses the before-work crowd. Each day needs its true hours, and holiday changes need entering before the day arrives.
A move between plazas, a change of owner or a new name often leaves an old profile behind. Reviews split between the two, and Google cannot tell which is current. The leftover needs marking as moved or permanently closed.
Directories and data suppliers sometimes attach a Richmond business to the wrong province, or leave the province out. Those conflicting records feed into what Google believes about you, so we track them down and correct them.
The owner sees a profile in the dashboard while the public sees nothing, because verification was never completed or was set off again by an edit. It is easy to overlook and simple to resolve once spotted.
The work
We note which categories the top three listings use for your main Richmond searches, then choose a primary and secondary set that honestly describe what you do.
Unit number, building and centre name where relevant, entered the same way everywhere, with the pin moved to the door people actually use.
Late closings, early openings, statutory holidays and seasonal changes, such as the months of the night market, all entered before they take effect.
Your storefront seen from the walkway, the sign above it, the nearest entrance and the room inside, so a first-time visitor from YVR or Vancouver recognises you.
A short link or QR card for happy customers, and a reply to each review within a few days, in the reviewer’s language when someone on your team can write it.
Public edit suggestions, newly created duplicates and sudden drops in calls spotted early and dealt with before they cost you a weekend.
Done carefully
Rules we keep for every client, written down so you can hold us to them.
A suspended profile takes its reviews and its phone calls with it. No shortcut is worth that trade.
Adding “Richmond BC” or a string of services to your business name, listing a virtual office as a storefront, or gathering reviews through rewards can all lift a profile for a while before Google removes it. We work within Google’s published guidelines, so what you build keeps paying off.

Questions
Put the unit number in the address, move the pin to your own entrance, and add photos taken from the parking lot and the walkway. A sentence in your description saying which side of the plaza you face helps as well.
Only if it is true and useful. Your description can mention a nearby station or the airport in a plain sentence, but those words do not belong in the business name, which has to match your sign.
The profile name should match how the business presents itself on its signage. Before changing anything we check how Google’s naming guidelines apply to your case, because an edit to the name can trigger a fresh review of the listing.
Avoid opening a replacement listing, which tends to make matters worse. We work out the likely cause, correct it, and request reinstatement with evidence such as your business licence, a utility bill in the business name and photos of the signage. Google sets the pace of its review.
Partly distance from the person searching, partly the strength of their profile. Comparing their categories, review count and photos with yours usually shows where the gap is, and which parts of it you can close.
No. Looking after your Business Profile is part of local SEO, which every plan includes: Starter $300, Growth $500 or Pro $700 a month, in Canadian dollars. You can cancel whenever you choose.
